Q: Store Policies
What are the policies of Clara's Corner?
A:
Shipping: All items are shipped within 24-48 business hours of the order being placed, except in special circumstances in which case you would be notified. We ship small orders via USPS, and we may choose to ship larger orders by UPS or FedEx. The cost of shipping includes insurance on all packages valued over $5.
Returns/Exchanges: Every product is quality checked after it is made. Most items are handmade at home by moms and may have occassional flaws, but these should not affect the function or overall appearance of the product. If you receive something that you believe is defective, you may return or exchange it within 14 days of purchase.
Please e-mail contact@clarascorner.biz if you have any further questions or need to make an exchange.
Q: Care of Pillows
How should I care for my toddler pillow?
A:
All polyester and PLA pillow inserts are machine washable. Wash on cold and tumble dry or air dry. I recommend putting a tennis ball in the dryer along with your pillow, this will help to fluff it up. You may want to knead your pillow after it is dried if it feels lumpy.
Bamboo pillows may be spot cleaned or handwashed, air-dry.
All pillowcases are also machine washable and may be tumble dried. Wash on cool or warm, some shrinkage will occur.
Q: Available Pillowcase Styles
What are the available styles of toddler pillowcases?
A:
Toddler pillowcases are available in the traditional "side-open" style that slides right over the pillow, leaving one open end.
They are also available in the "envelope" style which opens in the back, similar to a traditional pillow sham. You place one half of the pillow through one side, and then squeeze the pillow in the rest of the way. A little more work to put on, but your busy toddler won't be able to take it off either.
Q: PLA vs. Polyester Stuffing
Why is PLA better for pillows than polyester stuffing?
A:
Polyester fibers are made from oil, an increasingly expensive and non-sustainable resource. By using PLA we help to decrease our dependency on the use of oil, easing the strain on our planet (not to mention our politics!)
PLA, or Polylactic Acid, biodegrades in a compostable atmosphere, so when you throw it away, you can rest assured that it will break down hundreds of years faster than its polyester cousin. It is more resistant to ultra-violet light, and has a lower rate of flammability and smoke production if it should catch fire. The process of producing it creates much less pollution and it is made here in the USA.
It is hypo-allergenic, softer and more resilient than most polyester fibers. It just makes a better pillow.
